The in-town 1/2 league is a co-ed basketball program for all Canby players in first and second grades. The program has been redesigned to provide beginning players with the basic skills for and understanding of the rules of basketball in a fun and positive atmosphere. Players will receive instruction in skill-based practices during the week with Saturday scrimmages. Emphasis is on building confidence and having fun through drills, obstacle courses, fitness challenges and scrimmages. Season typically begins the first week of November, and ends the first week of January and includes 7 games.

Games will always be on Saturday's, typically early morning to early afternoon start times, will last approximately 1 hour.

2 practices a week, each an hour in length at Canby elementary schools. Practice schedule is dependent on coach availability.

Fees

$100 for all players. A basketball and a team shirt are included.

The boys in-town 3/4 program will offer Canby kids a stepping stone between in-town 1/2 program and the older competitive and rec  leagues, focusing on fundamental skills enhancement and learning how to play on a team. Emphasis will be on applying their skills in a game, learning plays, sportsmanship and teamwork. It will offer fun group clinic instruction, team instruction, games and a year-end tournament. Kids will receive equal play time. The program will provide kids a non-pressure environment that will help take their skills to the next level. 

For the in-town 3/4 placements, teams will be equally divided based on kids' ages, years of experience, height, and parent feedback. Placement day helps with team divisions. We cannot honor friend requests at this level due to competitive structure of the league.

Season typically begins the first week of November, and ends mid-February.  Includes 10 regular season games followed by a culminating post season double elimination tournament over 3 days.

Registration of $150 includes Jersey

Girls 3rd & 4th grade does not have an in-town option at this time. Depending on their skill level and/or parent preferred placement, they will be assigned into rec or competitive league with Saturday games taking place in the metro area.

Payment in full or payment plan selection is expected at the time of registration. If unable to pay with Credit/Debit card contact our treasurer.

The payment plan will require a credit/debit card. An initial small  payment will be charged at registration and the remaining payments will be auto-charged either 2 or 4 times based on your payment terms selected on the 1st of each month.

Canby Junior Basketball requires all payments due no later than December 15th or participation will not be allowed until your account is paid in full. All outstanding fees from the previous season must be paid before registration. Current year registrations cannot be accepted until past due balances are paid.

Financial Aid: If a parent or guardian cannot pay fees at the time of registration, limited scholarships are available in trade for volunteer hours with Canby Junior Basketball. Scholarships must be requested by 9/17/2023.
